Librarians today are instructional partners, teachers, information specialists, and program administrators. They lead in building 21st Century skills by providing students with opportunities to think critically, build digital literacy skills, and establish a love of reading that will prepare them for success in the Information Age. As stated in School Libraries Work! published by the Scholastic Research Foundation there is a "clear link between school library media programs and student achievement." Professional library media specialists in schools collaborate with teachers to provide students the opportunity to engage with text and technology in a range of mediums so they can acquire the skills needed to enter the workforce in the 21st Century.
